What does intentional living look like and why is intentional living important?
Intentional living encourages us to define our priorities, know what you want from life and to take actions which is consistent with achieving this.
If you’re looking for more balance, fun, purpose, happiness (or whatever this is for you - it will be different for everyone ) then this blog may be helpful for you.
I'm a big fan of this and think this is the key to deliberately manifesting the things that you want in life. Living your life by design.
What do you think of when thinking of an intentional life? What does it mean to live intentionally?
Living your life deliberately is the opposite of living your life by chance or reacting to what life gives you. It means taking control and responsibility and with intention creating what you would love your life to look like.
Do you have any long term goals? What are they? Why did you choose those goals? What's your next accomplishment? What would make you thing wow I actually did that! I actually have that now!
If you can’t answer these questions quickly, you’re probably not living intentionally.
So what can you do to change this. We have a new year approaching – what will 2025 bring for you? Have you thought about it? I don't want to leave you without an action steps so here are a few tips to think about.
How do you live an intentional life?
1. Make a decision. Choose a direction for your life. What are your goals? What would you love to achieve? What kind of lifestyle would you prefer? These questions all involve making a choice. You then get to choose your actions every day to move towards completing your chosen goals.
2. Following on from above choose your habits. We can often just fall into habits of doing certain things everyday whether they are productive or not to overall life. We can have habits that are holding us back, sometimes without even realising it. So check your habits. Are they helping you live the life that you want? See this blog here for help with creating habits.
3. Know yourself. Evaluate your behaviour – understand why you do the things that you do? Are your actions moving your towards an intentional purpose / outcome? Do you choose short term pleasure to avoid short term pain? Do you procrastinate? Once you are aware of your behaviour you have a choice to change it for the better. But often we are so busy in our everyday we are not really aware of what we are doing.
4. Your beliefs and values. These are like you are internal compass and a check point to seeing if your goals are truly connected to you. Does your life vision fit in with your beliefs and values? This can make it easier to decide what direction your life takes and what goals you pick for yourself.
5. Proactively take action. If you have decided what you want to achieve, its much easier to decide / choose what action you are going to take, when and how. You are in control as opposed to just reacting to what’s currently happening in life. (Yes, life is unexpected and we sometimes will have to do this but generally we should be able to plan ahead).
Living an intentional life just takes more planning, being proactive and making choices and decisions. Not leaving life to chance or luck.
I hope these tips are useful and that you can start using them to help you create an intentional life that you love. You just might surprise yourself with what you can achieve!
